We chat to Val, give you a chance to win the book and learn how-to knit a rabbit with a carrot.
I am a self taught passionate crafter, learning to knit at just 5 years old. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t knitting something for someone. My love of crafting grew and I progressed from knitting for family and friends to knitting for designers and spinning companies, making test garments and pattern checking. After some time I began to design small projects. I then contacted various magazines and offered my services as a designer. I was very fortunate to be accepted and from then on my career took off.

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?
I stumbled upon CO+K while looking for craft projects sites. I was looking for free tutorials trying to improve my craftiness and had been looking for months without much luck. Then one day I found CO+K and after several days looking through the projects and tutorials available I joined the group because I'd finally found a place that had what I was looking for, a variety of crafty goodness.
What projects are you currently working on?
I have been working on Doctor Who ornaments for my tree, every time I find something that will work on my tree I do it so this will be a year long project. I also am getting ready to decorate a sweater with a TARDIS (Doctor Who) stencil. And my new really big project is redecorating my bathroom.Read the rest of the interview »
Katie recreates the quirky and colourful room of Penny from the TV show, The Big Bang Theory.
I love Penny, i love the fact she swills Pinto Grigio and kisses cut Physicists all day. However, what i love more is her perfectly cute and eclectic bedroom. The clashing colours, funky home wares and plush fabrics really make it a cosy little haven. yes she may be a bit messy, but hey, when you are that cute....who cares! Although it may look at first glance to be more of a child's room, once you take a closer look you realise the stylist has very cleverly merged funky thrifty finds with classic design. Its a room that i want to look at (ahem...live in) all day!
