We chat to Carolyn, give you the chance to win the book and learn how-to make her Hexagon Bag.

I have been stitching since my teenage years, and patchwork has always been part of that. I went to college in Bath, studying for a teaching degree in textiles. Whilst working for the shop Laura Ashley I took the City and Guilds course in Patchwork and Quilting , really just to have a bit of focus, and to finish things. I am great at starting, but not everything gets finished. I worked The Quilt Room in Dorking for a number of years teaching there also. When I left to self publish my first book “Quilting on the Go”, I stayed there as a teacher, where I still regularly teach today. Over the years I have had quilts appear in various British and foreign magazines, and have now had 7 books published.

We head to Carlisle, England to meet Helen, an artist and creative practitioner and I also love making stuff.

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

I found Cut Out and Keep when I'd just made some big changes in my life and I was looking for places to share my work and find new ideas.

What projects are you currently working on?

As a community artist I always have lots of projects with various groups on the go so at the moment my studio is full of felt flags, embossed copper foil discs and printed and dyed fabrics from several different projects. For myself, I'm currently working on some pieces of art using shadow embroidery and shadow appliqué. I also have a crochet star blanket on the go, a knitted infinity scarf on the needles and I'm drafting a pattern for a kimono style top.

Noraknickers recreates the romantic vintage style of Betsey Johnson's apartment.

From the first romantic prom gown I spotted in a teen magazine (did I just date myself there?), I have been a fan of Betsey Johnson. I just loved her vintage romanticism then, and in her interior design, I love her bold use of drape and color. Although, personally, I'd tone down the pink.

I’m Gemma, and i’m an art girl and zinemaker in Melbourne, originally from the UK. i love drawing, singing & making music, being inspired by girls, body positivity, intersectional feminism, zines & zine culture, street & diy fashion, living ethically, living cute, bright colours, adorable animals, girls taking selfies in their bedrooms, the 80s & 90s, women making music, women making art, women taking over the world.

Vancouver, Washington •

Vancouver, Washington, the original Vancouver.” You see, Vancouver, Washington was founded in 1857, and Vancouver BC was founded 1886. Now the best thing about my city is that we embrace the epitome of elegance and surrender to the rougher blue collar parts of ourselves. Vancouver has excellent museums, historical landmarks, and natural areas galore, but it also has cinema, bars, and a healthy car enthusiast population.
