The Cake Is Not A Lie

everyone needs a companion <3
this is the cake i made for my sisters wedding. we're both huge fans of the game portal. so this was fun for me and awesome for her lol.
(i didnt get a pic of it 100% neat and tidy cause it needed to be delivered to the reception at 9 so forgive the rough edges)

the top tier is 6in square and the bottom is 9in square.

its 8 boxes of white cake. made with buttermilk(instead of adding water), some almond extract and neon blue food color; covered in homemade marshmallow fondant with from scratch buttercream frosting.

even with square pans the cakes didnt turn out perfectly square so they were stacked, crumb coated, placed in the freezer, carved square, crumb coated again and placed in the fridge to wait for the fondant.

then the fondant(3 lbs made the night before) was colored (70% drk grey 25%lt grey 5% pink). the pink and lt grey were rolled & cut out using the templates my sister made, painted using silver&pink pearl dust mixed with a Tbls of vodka and left to dry out til needed. the drk grey was rolled, cut into large squares to cover the sides and was placed bottom to top onto the cake. the sides were seamed and trimmed with a razor. then the lt grey and pink were placed on like stickers lol.
