I tried making these as a kid and the holes made liquid sweat through and wend up with a bunch of little 'sweat dots' on the table. Coating the back with varnish or gluing a plastic bag square flat to the back usually fixes that problem.

they're big enough for the bottoms of all the glasses and mugs I've used so far. Maybe it's just my huge hand
