It was done on bristol board and then I backed it with a thicker cardboard once it was finished.

I usually have trouble drawing blood and having it look somewhat realistic as well. This specific one was drawn on tracing paper with colored pencils. Just a matter of building up layers until I was satisfied. I only used two different shades of red and played around with it.
