Vocaloid Inspired
These headphone are inspired by the song "Magnet" from the Vocaloids.

When I took the pictures, I missed some steps, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

I also took pictures from two different sets. Heh, thats why one set is blue and the other is red...

  • How to decorate headphones. Butterfly Headphones - Step 1
    Step 1

First, make a stencil. You can pick out any type or size of wing you want. I made several wing types myself.

After you've got that done, cut it out. Don't forget to cut out the inner detail with either a really good pair of scissors or an exacto knife!

    Step 2

Get your trusty Sharpie and start tracing your design onto the folder.

For these two wings, they were small enough to fit onto the two inner pockets.

  • Step 3

Flip the stencil and repeat for the second wing.

After the initial tracing, go over your lines.

Then, you can color in the spaces using either Sharpie or the black acrylic paint. Let dry and hold it up to the light to look for uneven spots.

Note: The Sharpie may be blotchy of sticky and smelly. I found out the hard way.

Now, all you should have to it cut the wings out!

  • Step 6

With your newly cut out wings, check where you'd like to position them on the headphones. You can curve the edge to have them fit nicely too.

Once you've figured that out, glue them with your trusty hot glue gun.

First, put a thin line along your curve. Then, stick the wing into place via the 'seam' between the foam and the plastic.

Hold in place while glur settles.

Awesome! LOVE the idea to use a plastic folder. So much more durable than craft foam! Happy

I've heard of Vocaloid but i'm not exactly sure what it is. I've seen stuff for it online but where do you get it. I know it's like a japanese thing or something so it is probably very common there but if you could help out someone from the U.S. that would be really great. these look very cool by the way! Happy

These are amazing! I came across them a while ago on the site before I got into Vocaloid and thought they were pretty, but now that I am a vocaloid fan, these are a must have for me! I have a set already in progress, and I KNOW I have exactly the right headphones for this somewhere, if I could just find them! Anyway, thanks for the brilliant idea!

I love these, they are great! I want to try and do something similar with this, only with earbuds, it'll be more of a challenge, but these look to great to not attempt. Happy
