Horror-cakes!

The Girls of Meow Records celebrate with spooky, but vegan eyeball cupcakes.

Horror-cakes!

Tonight marks the launch of this year's Girls of Meow Records Calendar. Miss Meouch, the Mistress of Meow, brought together the greatest girls in town, instructing them to make their own photo shoots and calendar grids, all in the name of Horror. I was entrusted with a zombie theme, and others included Frankenstein, aliens, and the werewolves.

When us Calendar Girls get together to launch the calendar, we go for dinner at our favourite local restaurant and throw a small launch party with snacks and drinks! This year I took it upon myself to tackle the eating diversity of the girls, namely Vegan and Gluten-free and decided to make Vegan/Gluten Free horror-cakes with neon icings and plastic eyeballs for fun. This might sound more difficult than it actually is, but just be prepared to pay a lot more than you would for a conventional cupcake. Between vegan margarine, gluten free non-milk (lots of milk-like beverages, ie. soy and rice, have gluten in them), and the gluten free cake mix, the costs can skyrocket. But I think it will be worth it and I can't wait to bring them to the party and share them with the girls!e

Step 1: Find appropriate music to go with cupcake making. My choice: the Death Proof soundtrack.
