A wall of fame for your dangling earrings
It was inspired by the project 'Earring Hanger' by ofenjen, however since I didn't completely follow that how-to and ended up with something more than 1 frame (and made lots of pictures!) I decided to make my own how to.
Still, credit and kudos to ofenjen. :-D

With 'net curtain' I mean what we call 'vitrage' in Dutch. It's an open weave curtain meant to let in daylight but keep out curious glances from passers by.

I found two frames that were already a bright pink and suited my needs exactly.

Never knew I had so many earrings! I even ended up repairing a few so they could be displayed.

  • How to make a jewelry frame. Wall Of Earrings - Step 1
    Step 1

I got a very ugly off-white plastic frame from a thrift store. What struck my eye is the different 'compartments'.

I sanded it with a fine grade sandpaper. On the photo the outside bars are done, the inner ones not yet.

(Sorry for the netting and board being behind it already, it gave the frame more stability for the sanding)

I then painted the stuff black with plain acrylic paint. I dabbed it on because strokes left pieces uncovered. Also, the dabbing left a nice texture when using enough paint.

I had to do two layers to cover it all completely.

Let dry. (This didn't take long)

After the paint was dry I added a clear matte coating (or varnish... it was in the same kind of bottle as the acrylic paint) to make it a bit more shiny.

Before the coating was dry I put on some sequins for decoration.

This is the back plate of the frame and a bit of net curtain.

Lay the net curtain on top of the backing so it will extend on all sites for a bit.

Put the backing into the frame again. Mine made a nice 'clicking' sound.

If this leaves your net not secure enough you can sew the corners together with needle and thread. Or even pull the opposite ends together with threads.
However, make sure it is not too tight because that will make it hard to push your earring hooks through.

Put a nail into your wall and hang up the frame.
Add your ear rings to show them off.

With the two pink frames (sorry, no pictures taken of the process) I didn't need to paint them.

I put white paper onto the cardboard (ugly grey) backing of the one on the left and the net curtain over that.

I removed the backing of the one on the right all together and stapled the net curtain onto the back.

The right one is easier to put earrings into but shows the wall through it.
