  • How to sew a vinyl tote. Transparent Studded Satchel - Step 1
    Step 1

you need to cut out the following pieces for the basic structure of the bag

    1. long piece that includes the front bottom , back, and top.

    2. 2 side panels.
    allow room for studs
width is 2 extra cm on each side based on the width of the bottom of the bag

length is 2 extra cm based on the length of the front of the bag

cut out edges of the corner of the bottom of the bag to avoid extra material when attaching studs.

    3. strip for the shoulder straps

    4.strip for hand held strap

    NOW

think of the studs as glue.

punch hole and attach bags with the studs.

it helps to look at the construction of another bag.

I like this tutorial and I like the bag, but I have to question the soundness of it's construction. Did you run into problems with the straps/sides tearing if you put too much weight in it?

I thought about while making this bad and to be honest, this bag probably won't as sturdy as your leather bags. with that in mind, I decided to make this a smaller bag so I don't put too much strain on the straps. Also, depending on the thickness of the material you're working with, your bag could be sturdier . I also recommend getting a piece of plexi glass the exact size of the bottom of your bag with the edges sanded to retain the structure .
