  • How to sew a yo yo necklace. Suffolk Puff Collars - Step 1
    Step 1

select some fabric for your scarflet/collar - for the purple one i used a thrifted scarf it was a woven fabric with a soft brushed finish - for the gray collar i used a brand new medium sized el cheapo t-shirt.
mark out as many circles as you can on the fabric in various sizes from very large to small - cut out circles - make puffs - lots and lots of puffs. I can make about 6 puffs in an hour.

ok now you've got a big pile of puffs - arrange them into your scarf/collar - pin them and keep trying it on to fit - once you are happy with the placement, get sewing - this bit takes AGES! i did lots of over-lapping and tweaking and continuing to try it on to check how it looks.

on the grey collar i extended it downwards a lot more and used up every single puff i'd made from the t-shirt.

i would've made this scarflet bigger but only had the one scarf to work with, it is actually very warm and not bulky so very comfortable to wear with a jacket/coat/cardi.

i finished the scarf with a hook'n'eye fastener.

    Step 7

i loved making these scarves - they are very comfortable to wear, lovely and warm and very cheap in materials - they do however takes HOURS and HOURS to make - i've put here 7 hours but i didn't time myself and the grey one took more and the purple one took less.

    hope you like them :o)
