Hello Hexie!
The solid hexie really shows off its talent in this show-stopper blanket. The hexies use two colours in such a way that they create magical star shapes when put together.

  • Step 1

    BLANKET
    This pattern is slightly different to a traditional solid hexie as the colours are changed in the middle of the round and the hexies are turned over at the end of each round.

  • Step 2

    SOLID HEXIES (MAKE 8)
    Use Smokey Quartz for all hexies in this section.
    Rnd 1: 4ch, all in 4th ch from hook: tr 1, ch 1, *tr 2, ch 1; rep from * four more times, sl st to 4th ch to join. (12)
    Rnd 2: ch 3, tr 1, (tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 1ch- sp, *tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp, (tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 1ch-sp; rep from * four more times, sl st to 3rd ch to join. (24)
    Rnds 3 – 5: ch 3, *tr 1 in each st to 2ch- sp, (tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 2ch-sp; rep from * five more times, tr 1 in each st to end, sl st to 3rd ch to join. (60)
    Fasten off.

    HALF HEXIES (MAKE 6)
    Use Smokey Quartz for all half hexies in this section.
    Row 1: 4ch, all in 4th ch from hook: (tr 2, ch 1) twice, tr 3, turn over. (8)
    Row 2: ch 3, tr 1 in same place as ch 3, *tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp, (tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 1ch-sp, rep from * once more, tr 1 in each st to last st, tr2 in last st, turn over. (14)
    Rows 3 – 5: rep row 2. (32) Fasten off.

    TWO COLOUR HEXIES
    Use Smokey Quartz for the first colour in each hexie. For the second colour make 6 hexies (2 stars) in each of Coral, Brown Agate, Obsidian, Boulder Opal, Yellow Jasper,
    Moon Stone, and 9 hexies (3 stars)
    in Larimar.
    Rnd 1: using Smokey Quartz, 4ch, all in 4th ch from hook: tr 1, ch 1, tr 2, ch 1, change colour, (tr 2, ch 1) four times, sl st to 4th ch to join, turn over. (12)
    Rnd 2: ch 3 in 1ch-sp just made, tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp, *(tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 1ch-sp, tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp; rep from * two more times, tr 1 in 1ch-sp, change to Smokey Quartz, tr 1 in same 1ch-sp, tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp, (tr 1, ch 2, tr 1) in 1ch-sp, tr 1 in each st to 1ch-sp, tr 1 in 1ch-sp, ch 2, sl st to 3rd ch to join, turn over.     To join hexies, put RS together and use the whip stitch through the back loops only of each hexie. Follow chart for placement.
    Fasten off and weave in ends.
