Why so sour, Sour Girl
Anyone out there every been dressed up for a holiday by your parents and just hated it? Well so does sour girl. I went into this without a concrete idea for what I wanted to make. All I knew was that I wanted to make something with big black eyes but not necessarily sinister.

  • How to make a figurine dolls. Sour Girl - Step 1
    Step 1

Alright heres a plastic ball, just an ordinary ornament that's outlived its usefulness. I drew a line with a sharpie so the eyes would be straight then drilled a hole for each eye.

    Step 2

I drill two small holes and use whats know as a deburrer to slowly increase its size because I want it to be a tight fight so no or less glue is required. You could always use an exacto blade and be extra careful.

    Step 3

Time to flesh it out with a little clay, this is your base where you build on your features, or you could just press in some details now for a simple face :)

    Step 4

I gave her plump little checks and a little scowl. Use a damp cloth or paintbrush to clean any clay off of the eyes because the grit in the clay may mess with the eyes shininess.

    Step 5

    Here she is with paint.

    Step 6

Having much success with my Edgar Allan Poe dolls hair I decided to make hers in the same way. I started with the back of her head, then added the top and indented some parts. NOTE: indent not cut it will shrink a lot, also don't be frugal use a good amount and a tad on the thick side because it will tear and crack as it dries, thicker means it won't pull away so much. Don't be discouraged please experiment.

    Step 7

A nice "carroty" orange and brown will make a nice auburn color. Mostly orange and add brown until the desired depth in color is reached but feel free to use whatever color you like.

  • How to make a figurine dolls. Sour Girl - Step 8
    Step 8

I painted a block of balsa, drilled arm and leg holes and glued in some wire.

    Step 9

I carved legs with an exacto blade and chose to leave them roughly hewn as opposed to sanding them smooth, just for a change of pace. The quarter is there for scaling

    Step 10

Here she is assembled but not finished, I want to add little antlers and a bell and make her base a little present. Merry Christmas everyone :)

I'm guilty of having this remind me of myself.
Same length of bangs, tiny top pigtails, brown hair. I loooove it. I think this is how I imagine myself in my mind.

Thank you for the brilliant how to....I know how she feels...how many times did my mother put ribbons in my hair only for me to rip them out...it was mainly because she gave me an instant face lift with the tightness off them....now I'm at an age were it may be a good thing to do...Lol
