Okay, so maybe more of a charm and less of a key chain.
The Serenity Prayer is a big help to those of us in the Al-Anon Family Groups. I wanted a reminder of it that I could carry with me every day. I'd intended making a keychain, but the plastic shrank quite a bit. I'll need a larger piece to make a keychain :)

Figuring out the right sizes is going to take some work, and I'm sure there are some tutorials on this site that can be more accurate about it than I can.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

    Make sure the plastic you're going to use is clean and dry.

    Step 2

    Assemble your stuff--plastic, scissors, sharpies. There are some things missing from this picture, like a hole punch or whatever else you're going to use.

    Step 3

    Make sure the images you have fit the plastic :)

  • Step 4

    Cut out the shape of plastic that you want. Preheat the oven to 400F.

    Step 5

    Print out your designs, or tape your plastic to your computer screen, as I did ;) Now trace.

    I traced the cougar paw in silver Sharpie, and traced the Serenity Prayer over that with black Sharpie. I was worried that the prayer wouldn't be readable, but it turns out that it is.

    Step 6

    Cut the hole in your charm. It will be too thick to do so after the shrinking. I couldn't find my hole punch, so I used scissors and a paint brush handle. As you can see, it ripped the plastic a little.

    Step 7

    Trim, adjust, etc.

  • Step 8

    Place in oven. Watch it! It only takes a few seconds. If your oven isn't preheated yet, give it another five minutes and go make a cake.

    You can see here how much the plastic shrinks :)
