Step 1
Short Row Wrap & Turn (w&t)
On RS row (on WS row)
1) Wyib (wyif), sl next st purlwise.
2) Move yarn between the needles to the front (back).
3) Sl the same st back to LH needle. Turn work. One st is wrapped.
4) When working the wrapped st, insert RH needle under the wrap and work it tog with the corresponding st on needle. -
Step 2Cowl
With A, cast on 144 sts. Join, taking care not to twist sts, and place marker for beg of rnd. Purl 1 rnd.
BEG PATTERN STITCH
Rnd 1 With A, *k11, w&t, p10, w&t, k9, w&t, p8, w&t, k7, w&t, p6, w&t, k5, w&t, p4, w&t, k3, w&t, p2, w&t, k7, picking up wraps; rep from * around.
Rnd 2 With A, knit, picking up rem wraps. Break A, leaving long tail.
Rnd 3 Sl 6 sts purlwise, place 2nd marker for alternate beg of rnd. With B, *k11, w&t, p10, w&t, k9, w&t, p8, w&t, k7, w&t, p6, w&t, k5, w&t, p4, w&t, k3, w&t, p2, w&t, k7, picking up wraps; rep from * around, ending at alternate marker.
Rnd 4 With B, knit, picking up rem wraps, ending at alternate marker. Break B, leaving long tail. Remove alternate marker, slip last 6 sts on RH needle back to LH needle, rnd begins at original marker.
Rep rnds 1–4 three times more, then work rnd 1 once more. With A, purl 1 rnd. Bind off knitwise.Finishing
Block lightly to measurements.
