A schoolbag with lots of pockets
I made this because I was tired of using a grocery bag for my books (it wasn't big enough and, as a plain cloth grocery bag, there weren't smaller areas to store things that were small or important). I was going to post a tutorial for how to make it, but when I put it together, I realized that there were a lot of changes I would have made, since I ran into a number of complications. That said, I may post a simpler version in the future.

My fabric was bought various places on sale. The total cost of the bag would have been less than $10.

The bag has a large inner pocket for smaller books (my little books always get crushed by my big ones), a small pocket and pen pocket. The sides both have large blue pockets and smaller pink pockets (one side is two small pockets and one is two small pockets and some pen slots). The front has a large purple pocket and the smaller blue pocket. The bag is much larger than it looks in the picture.

I devised the pattern for it by looking over a tote bag I liked in a store. It looked easy, so I thought I'd try making my own version. :)
