You Will Need

Step 1Place the basil leaves in the bottom of a tall glass and smash with a muddler or a long spoon.

Step 2Add some ice.

Step 3Add the gin and vermouth.

Step 4Cut a small swirl from the orange peel and place to one side.

Step 5Squeeze the juice from the orange into the drink.

Step 6Top with soda water.

Step 7Holding the orange swirl above the glass, gently burn it with a lighter for a few seconds before dropping it into the drink.
