About
A sunday morning experiment with varigated yarn and square beads
The original inspiration for this came from a crocheted charm bracelet I saw in 'essential crochet'by Erika Knight. I substituted square letter beads with quite a large centre hole (approx 3mm)and then just made it up as I went along. Maybe I'm biased but I think it came out rather well. I like the scalloped edge and think it looks a bit like bunting. I used a metallic yarn but I think thin ribbon would also work well. This is my first how-to, so I hope it makes sense.

Step 2
Make a foundation chain long enough to fit round your wrist (mine was 40 chain). Remember that your clasp will add length.
-
Step 3
Slip/attach a jump ring onto the yarn. Do a double crochet into the first stitch of the foundation chain, incorpating the jump ring so that it sits at the end of the chain.
-
Step 4
Do another double crochet.
-
Step 5
Slide a square bead along the yarn, make a 4 chain and fold it round the top of the bead. Attach to the foundation chain with a double crochet.
-
Step 7
Sew in the ends. If you want to make sure that your beads don't slip around, don't trim your yarn and sew all the way through the bracelet, so the beads are more firmly attached.
-
Step 8
Trim the ends. Attach the lobster clasp and you're ready to go.
