Make Celtic wirework heart chain links
In this tutorial I show you how to make a basic Celtic heart link, that can be used for making chain, earrings, necklace, ring or anything you can think of.

    Step 1

    Start by cutting 15cm of 1mm wire, and make a loop in the middle of about 2mm, with the ends of the wire coming out with an angle of 90 degrees between them.

    Make another loop of the same size with the wire coming underneath, making sure the wire goes over this time and lies flat next to the other length.

    Now make a third loop of the same size on the opposite side using the other length of wire, and bring it underneath so the two lengths of wire again come out at a 90 degree angle from each other.

    Make a larger loop of approximately 7mm further up the wire on one side, and leave the wire length going out to the side.

    Repeat on the other side, making sure the two loops are equal size and meet in the middle without overlapping and no space between them.

    Take a short length of 0.4mm wire, and start wrapping it around the two wires where they meet underneath the cleft of the heart.

    Wrap the wire around 6-7 times, and finish each end of by wrapping it around one of the base wires and cutting of the excess.

    Cut each of the base wire lengths down to the point where they meet the edge of the heart.

    Step 9

    Using a pair of round nose pliers curl each end upwards to achieve a horseshoe shape on either side within the heart. Your basic heart is now done.
