Seasonal elegance
Design an enchanting wall light in plain white for Christmas time
Thick snowflakes fall from the sky, transforming streets and houses into a sugar-white winter landscape. Wherever you go you smell freshly baked biscuits, mulled wine or roast chestnuts, and everyone knows that Christmas is just around the corner. It is the perfect time to do some seasonable decoration. In a few simple steps and with Dremel® tools you can easily make a stylish wall light of your own in plain white, for example. The indirect lighting and the Christmas tree motif create a cosy atmosphere in which you can look forward to the festive season.

Use our template to draw the shape of a Christmas tree 40 cm tall and 25 cm wide on cardboard. Cut it out with a pair of scissors and transfer it with a pencil to a 40 x 60 cm piece of multiplex board.

Now, it‘s time for a handy scroll saw like the Dremel Moto-Saw. Insert the fine wood cutting saw blade (MS52) and cut out an oval. Ensure that you keep an even distance between the outlines of the Christmas tree you have marked out and the edge of the oval.

Now use a multitool such as the Dremel Micro and a 4 mm wood drill bit (636) to cut holes for the Christmas tree shape one by one. They are where the LED lights will be placed later. Hold the multitool at a right angle to the wood and make sure that the holes are at least 1 cm apart from each other.

Replace the wood drill bit in your multitool by the EZ SpeedClic sanding band (SC407). Use this accessory to remove any splinters of wood and to smooth the edges of the oval and each of the small holes.

For the plain but elegant look paint the oval on one side using a small paint roller and white acrylic paint. Apply the paint evenly and then repeat the procedure, applying another coat in order to achieve an optimal coverage. Leave the paint to dry before you come to the last step.

Finally, insert the LEDs of a string of lights into the holes and let the restof the cable fall straight down. Then fix your light with two screws to the wall. Your stylish wall light for cosy winter evenings at home is now complete and ready to enjoy.
