My mum was on vacation in Palma de Mallorca and as i´m an addict to spanish pattern magazine Patrones (even if i really don´t understand anything) she brought two issues of it with her, yay!!!
i absolutely and immediately fell in love with that skirt and fortunately it was fabric market near my hometown and i had luck and found this eyelet embroidered fabric that is similar to the original, well kinda...
As i used that fabric i had to change the construction a bit because of the holes in there, i don´t want to walk around with holes all over!! the original skirt has a yoke with facing and two ruffles (one long and one short). i made the facing for the yoke out of batiste and also lined the long ruffle with it. I had to bond the two layers but it became crinkly and i decided to use a serger on all edges. i also found out thet it is much more easier to gather with the serger. you just have to tighten the yarn tension of the two needle threads, after that you can adjust it by loosing or pulling the threads again.
apart from that, the skirt has a zipper at the centre back. There are belt loops (and a belt at the lower edge of the yoke. above the belt loops i sewed on lace ribbon. i sewed on the lace ribbon and another trim at the lower edges of the ruffles too.
I think it was an easy skirt and a perfect thing for the first afternoon in a longtime to make something for myself. The only tricky thing was to have the lace alined on both sides of the zipper or seams.
The price for materials is approx. 18€.
