This was one of the first amigurumi that I designed. Makes a great gift for your favorite tea/coffee drinker.
I like to use a pastel color for my tea cups (so far, I've only made them in aqua and lavender), and an off white with a dark green stripe for my bistro mugs.

  • Step 1

    Finished dimensions-
The tea cups measure 6 inches across and stand about 3 inches tall. Bistro mugs measure 6 inches across and stand 6 inches tall.

I used small amounts of Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn in a variety of colors with a US6/4mm circular knitting needle (interchangeable with DPNs). You will also need scissors, a darning/tapestry needle, polyester stuffing, and safety eyes.

Break yarn, thread darning needle, and thread through remaining sts. Weave in ends.

  • Step 6

With cup color, pick up 3 sts on one side.
Work these 3 sts as an icord for desired length.
With another needle, pick up three stitches toward the bottom of the cup. Knit these stitches with their corresponding sts using k2tog. Knit 3 more rounds. Knit 2 tog. Knit one more round. Knit 2 tog. Break yarn leaving a 6 in tail. Thread darning needle and thread through remaining sts. Weave in ends.

Pick up three sts on the edge of the brown. With white, work as an i-cord until desired length.
