A gathered skirt with appliqued swallow birds
I made this skirt at school and just wanted to share it with you :) Thought it came out quite well really

Step 1Cut out waistband
Waistband = double height + 3cm by waist measurement + 10cme.g. 11cm by 71.5cm
Cut out long piece of fabric
I did around double waist measurement for width and your wanted length. -
Step 2I cut out around 30 of these swallow outlines. Iron them down flat first or you could use wonder web to make it easier to applique down.

Step 3Applique around all the swallow outlines carefully. Cutting any lose threads.

Step 4Sew two lines of loose, long length stitching across the top of the main piece of fabric. (DO NOT reverse stitch at start or end!)
Carefully pull the pieces of thread to gather. Pin to waistband.

Step 5Attach waistband, fold over and machine stitch or handsew down the waistband in the inside of the skirt.
Insert zip and hem bottom.
Add button/buttonhole or hook and bar to fasten waistband.
