Transform your scrap fabric into those pimpin' flowers :)
Found some scrap fabrics in my textile class in school- decided to put them into good use. They're quite easy to make and look awesome on your hair / clothes etc. I've made around 15 of them already...Pick the colours carefully- make sure they complement each other.. They're a bit messy ,but thats what I like about them :)

  • How to make a floral headband. Scrap Flowers - Step 1
    Step 1

Ignore the speech bubbles- made them a little too small -_-....

Cut out an oval shape of fabric as a base for your flower.

Cut out stripes from your scraps (they don't have to be perfect, you can also make them fray, to get a messy look, like I did).

    Step 2

Using a sawing machine, saw on your scrap strips creating loops, going around like the arrow shows.

    Step 3

Going around, make sure the "petals" from the inside are shorter than the ones from the outside. Also, make sure you completely cover the base of your flower.

    Step 4

Make a spiral out of your scrap stripe, to cover the ends of the loops and stitches.

From felt( or any other fabric, I found felt the best for this job) cut out an oval shape for the back of the flower, to cover all the stiches, whip stitch it by hand.

  • Step 5

To finish off, attach a hair clip or a brooch back, depending on what you would like to use your flower for.
    Enjoy :)
