DIY RUFFLE PILLOW, home decor sewing, pillow diy
It’s time to say goodbye to boring designs and welcome some fun to your pillow making. This project would make a great gift for anyone!
All the ruffles are cut on a bias, it will give the ruffle better volume and eliminate the fabric from fraying.

    Pattern: You pattern is printed on 8.5” by 11” paper. You will need to tape the pages together following the column and row numbers, matching the corner markings.

    Cutting: Cut 2 fabric

    Cut 9 bias strips, 1" wide, 20" long. You can have 3 strips of each different materials.

    - Make sure you change your stitch length to the longest stitch length.
    - Make a stitch line ¼” away from the edge. Do NOT back stitch and make sure to leave a long thread at each end.

    - Make a stitch line ½” away from the edge. Do NOT back stitch and again make sure to leave a long thread at each end.

    - You will need to make gathering stitch for all the remaining strips.

    Pull the two threads on the top GENTLY and you will see the ruffle coming together.

    You will need to keep pulling and move the ruffle along the strip until your strip measures 10.5”

    In total, you should have 9 ruffles. Place them in the order that you want on the pillow.

    Stitch the first ruffle on the pillow front. On your pattern, you will find the ruffle placement line.

    Once your first ruffle is stitched and secured, you will continue to stitch the second, third, and so on.

    This is what it should look like after you stitched all 9 strips.

    Stitch the pillow front and back together. Make sure you leave an opening approximately 3” at the bottom of the pillow.

    Your seam allowance is 1/2"

    Turn the pillow inside out and stuff it.

    Hand stitch the opening closed.
