jazz up an old holiday favorite.
i love staring at the blue poinsettias in the grocery stores. but i refuse to pay $20.00 for a plant that has been painted on.

i can't have a real one because of my pets either.

i found a fake white velvet poinsettia plant for a couple of bucks. i thought why don't i paint my own?

    Step 2

start painting the leaves. because my leaves were velvet, it used up a lot of paint.

for mine, i used a dark plum purple as a base, and while it was still wet i went over it with a little lavender purple.

    Step 3

i left one flower still white, for depth/realness of plant. i added white veins in the leaves since they are quite noticeable on a real plant.

i used some shiny wrapping paper to add a new base to the pot and finished it off with a dark navy ribbon.

i'm not sure if i'll be adding glitter to the leaves...i might still do it, and if i do i'll post it.
