Quiltopedia
You will find, as you get into quilting, some patterns just play on your mind and leave you with no room for anything else. This pattern did that for me. A conversation one night with my mum turned into this quilt less than three days later. Needless to say, I was obsessed!

• Note: Nearly all fabrics used in this quilt are by Art Gallery Fabrics.

  • Step 1

Pair all 5-inch coloured and BKG sqs. Join to make HSTs. Trim to 41⁄2 inches sq.

  • Step 2

Divide sqs and HSTs into four even piles. Take one pile and lay out all sqs in a 10 x 10 arrangement using the HSTs to form the edges of an ‘X’ as in the diagram.

  • Step 3

Join into rows to form one quarter of the quilt. Repeat steps two and three for the remaining three piles of squares. Note: there is a flow of colour in the quadrants, going from pink to orange to yellow to lime to aqua. The low-volume prints are backgrounds of the X.

    Step 4

Join quarters as a four-patch to form quilt top. Baste, quilt and bind as desired. I quilted this in concentric circles, 2 inches apart.
