an easy to make roll up make up bag designed for brushes
I have a simple make up bag, no pockets or anything, but my brushes get lost (and dirty) among everything else. I was inspired by a make up bag on Forever21.com. So I decided to make one myself and I think it turned out pretty nice :) Basic sewing knowledge is needed otherwise I would've written a book about this haha Enjoy and Thanks!

  • How to sew a roll-up pouch. Make Up Brush Roll Up Bag - Step 1
    Step 1

    Gather your materials:
Two fabrics (one for the inside one for the outside) Also fabric for a pocket if you want one. Elastic, Velcro (or another closure), scissors, thread needle all that good stuff...
note: I ended up not using that brown binding

Cut your fabrics a quarter of an inch larger than you want you bag to be. I cut it 14in height and 9.5 inches across

I also added batting on my fabric to give the project more structure, but you don't have to

DON'T FORGET ABOUT YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE!!
use your brushes to measure where to sew the incisions to create the holding area for your brushes (i don't know if it has a name or not :p)

    Step 6

to create a pocket you'll need a piece of fabric the same size as one of your folds. I chose to add some binding to the top of mine and used Velcro for the closure (you don't even have to have a closure)
I sewed velcro to the top of my pocket and where it would close on the lining and just basted it to the sides since we'll be sewing over that later.

if you want to do any decorative elements to the outside fabric do this now... I outlined all the ice cream cones.

Shape the top of your bag.. or keep it square, and sew the lining to the main fabric. If you're going to use binding like me don't worry about right sides together, otherwise make sure your right sides are facing each other!
