  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 1
    Step 1

Here's the finished product + all your "ingredients" or supplies for your project (: Good luck!
    Let's get started...

  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 2
    Step 2

Start with a pair of plain, cheap flip flops.
Mine were from a beach store, but you can get them at the Dollar Store or Old Navy too (:

  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 3
    Step 3

Take a couple of colorful pages out of your magazines, and cut them into rectangles that will fit along the edge of your flip flops. Then glue them until the edges are covered..

    Step 4

    Optional step..
just to make sure the magazine clippings are on there good, run a thin layer of your glue over the clippings and smooth it out with a q-tip.. carefully!!! especially where the clippings overlap.. this only works if your glue dries clear.. LOL (:

  • Step 5

Now, take a long thin rectangle of a magazine page to cover your straps.
Take this, wrap it around one of the straps, then tape it into place, trying to smooth all the wrinkles out.
    Repeat on other strap (:

  • Step 6

Then it's time to add your magazine rosettes on the straps.
Follow the instructions for the rosettes on this tutorial..
    http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/recycled-magazine-necklace_2
I used Elmer's Glue instead of hot glue..
Make them all different sizes! (:

  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 7
    Step 7

Then, start gluing the rosettes to the straps..
Start with a large one in the middle of the straps.. then add medium ones on either side of that, then smaller and smaller on either side until you're happy with the look..

  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 8
    Step 8

Then repeat on the other flip-flop..

PS: You can also decorate the base of the flip flop with magazine clippings, but i didn't because i usually wear my flip-flops so much that the magazine would wear off pretty quickly.

  • How to make a sandal / flip flop. Magazine Flip Flops! - Step 9
    Step 9

    Ta-DA! you are done (:
    And they're ready to wear!!

Hey what can you use to seal the magazine pieces onto the side of the flip flop?
And if you didn't use anything of the sort, have you had any problems with it?
Thanks Happy x
