A way to keep your kids precious artwork, look at it and use it every day
I saw a show with Machine Embroidery and wanted to try it. Instead of using stencils or patterns I wanted to use the kids drawings so they could be kept and looked at every day. Made a great Christmas present for there Nanna too :)

Step 1
Get your creative and talented kids to draw a picture on a plain tea-towel with chalk or another removable pencil. By all means draw some yourself too!
Step 2
Use a quilting or embroidery foot for your machine, something that allows you to move back and forward freely, then sew over the image, every crooked line and swirly flower :) I used a straight stitch to look more like the actual drawing
Step 3
Once it is all stitched over, thats it! You may need to wash it to get the chalk lines off, and its a good idea to get them to sign it too. You can actually paint it with fabric paint if you want it coloured but I thought that would interfere with the effectiveness of the towel, if you are using it for a hanging by all means do it or get the kids to - the stitching makes it hard to go outside the lines.
Step 4
Enjoy your keepsake, one last idea is to use the multicoloured thread when sewing, it would make it really cute and colourful!
