I had only 3 Knitting Needles (it’s not enough for round knitting) so I decided to knit with 2 Needles and then sew it. But the 3 Knitting Needles are enough for round knitting thumb.

My needles are about 1,5 mm in diameter.
Square 10 cm x 10 cm is about 23 stitches x 38 rows. (I knit very tight, but if you will knit quite a bit weaker, I think it wouldn't be bad.)

what size needles did you use / what was the gauge?
love this project and cant wait to get started on a pair of my own, ... most of these projects are 4 needles/ circular needles and I am a total novice and can't do that stuff quite yet.
