I heart string art!
Make any shape you like! Hearts, stars, even words!
Just find a nice rustic piece of timber, maybe cut it to size, and let your string run wild!

    Step 1

    You will need
    A wooden board. Something rustic but not too weathered.
    A hammer
    Flat head nails, length will depend on the thickness of your wood but 25mm is what I have used
    Sand paper
    String
    And a stencil

    Sand down the rough edges.
    We don't want splinters!

    Nail down your stencil to ensure it doesn't move!

    Hammer in more nails!
    I've spaced mine about 2cm apart

    Remove your stencil and start wrapping your string around the nails!

    Go crazy! Or for a geometric effect work on a pattern

    Keep going, and double your layers if using thin cotton for extra effect!

    Once you have finished your pattern, tie off the loose ends and lift all your string to the same height.

    Ta Da! Your finished!
    If you would like to hang it add some hooks to the top
    Or just stand it up on display in your book shelves or mantle (:
