knit these cute mitts in a unique and modern stitch pattern!
these mitts are worked flat, and then sewn up at the end leaving a space for the thumb.
(we will be working in mini herringbone stitch to make these mitts)
cast on 35 stitches
row 1 (WS): *P2tog, leave both stitches on the needle, purl the first stich again and move both stiches onto the right hand needle. repeat from * to last stitch, p1
row 2 (RS): *Slip 1, holding the yarn at the back of your work, k1, raise the slipped stitch up with the left needle, as if to bind off but before dropping, knit it and then drop from needle, repeat from * to last stitch, k1
row 3: (and all odd rows following) repeat row 1
row 4: (and all even rows following) repeat row 2
continue for 22 rows, or until piece measures desired length for your mitt. cast off and sew along the edge, leaving a gap for your thumb.
make a second square in the exact same pattern, and sew it up to make your second mitt.
