Gothic flower hair clip
I like to make my own flowers to match my outfit. I like big busy ones! This was made for a glam party I attended.

  • How to make a flower hair clip. Gothic Glam Flower - Step 1
    Step 1

Start with any ugly old flower with a cool shape like this one (these are my faves!) This flower is about 5-6 inches wide (I didn't measure)

    Step 2

Start painting it with acrylic craft paint. This also helps hold the shape well so it isn't floppy by stiffening the silk. Allow to dry (of course) SOmetimes it will require more than one coat because the silk can suck up the color.

    Step 3

I painted mine with a coat of purple glitter paint (hence Glam). I took lace and covered every other end of the petals using hot glue on the back of the petal only so it won't show in the front.

Then I used the same lace as trim and trimmed around every other petal. I glued the lace to the middle of the flower and placed 3 small black feathers around the lace in the middle.

    Step 5

I glued purple feathers to the back of every other petal to give it a little more length and glued a skull I painted black and silver glitter in the middle on the lace. I made two of these, one for each side, which I will post photos after I rock them tonight at the glam party in Oakland.

  • Step 6

Last, I used a alligator clip and glued it to the back (depending where you want to wear it on your head)with hot glue and make sure you secure it with fabric so it won't fall off.

What a cute fun easy project. I cant wait to try it! It just so happens that I have a ton of old silk flowers that will work perfectly.

This. Is. Awesome. My brain is exploding because I don't have the materials to make one right this instant and can't get them. (It's midnight.) I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
