nice 'n' simple. a versatile project.
I love headbands that have feathers on them. I didn't have any feathers, so I decided to try to put one together using gauze instead.

  • How to make a feather headband. Flowy Headband - Step 1
    Step 1

For this project you are going to need synthetic fabric. This is absolutely necessary. We're going to burn the edges of it, SO COTTON OR NATURAL FIBRES WON'T WORK!!! I don't want you burning down the house, so please be extremely careful about it. If you want you can have a bowl with water near you, just in case.

Children should not do this by themselves.

    Step 2

Start by cutting the fabric in this sort of "pointy ovals". I recommend cutting different sizes of them. Mine were from 4 to 8cm long.
They don't need to be perfect.
    Cut plenty of them :)

    Step 3

Carefully, burn the edges of the gauze, one at a time. You can use pliers to help you hold them. It's not difficult at all, you just have to be careful. As I said before, you can have a bowl of water next to you just in case.

    Step 4

Cut the fake leather in a teardrop shape. The size of it will depend on how big or small you want your accessory to be. Mine is about 8x7cm.

Now, put some glue on the wrong side of the fake leather. And start putting in place the gauze shapes. I put the longer ones first, and continued with the shorter ones. But don't glue the whole petal. Just a bit!
Go from the rounded side of the teardrop shape to the pointy side.

Once you've finished, you'll get something like this. We'll start putting the plastic gems. I bought lilac and black ones, but I decided to go with black.

Glue them wherever you want them. Or sew them.
I like them on the pointy side.

Now, for the trick of this project.
Cut a circle in fake leather.

And then, cut two parallel lines. Just as shown in the picture.
(well, those lines are not reaaaally parallels, but you get the idea ;) )

    Step 10

Put glue near the edge ONLY. This is really important.

    Step 11

Put the circle in place. The lines should be put horizontally!!
    The picture shows it.

Always going through the little cuts you made.
