Feminist Power Symbol Ornament/Badge
Use this pattern and make your own Feminism Symbol ornament or badge out of felt. Perfect for the feminists in your life, a subversive Christmas tree, a non-denominational decoration, or an inspirational wall-hanging. (This can also be a great badge if you leave off the ribbon.)

When you finish your project it will be ~2.35" wide and 4" tall.

  • Step 1

Print out this PDF—instructions and pattern.

  • Step 2

Cut out all pattern pieces. (This pattern contains pieces for two ornaments. Instructions follow as though you
are only doing one right now.) Be sure to cut out the opening in the foreground/fist piece.

  • Step 3

Cut out approximate-sized pieces of felt for each pattern piece (I find it better to have smaller pieces to work
    with before taping)

  • Step 4

Tape down pattern pieces to felt in the colors of your choosing. Shown is purple/dark purple, but any two
colors will work. Cut one piece of ribbon/rick-rack for ornament hanging. (Optional! Approx 6” long, though
    this is up to you.)

  • Step 5

    Cut out two background pieces.

  • Step 6

Form a loop with the ribbon and glue the ends in between the background pieces at the top. Be sure to do
this far enough away from the edge so you can still easily stitch without having to go through glue (err toward
    the center).

  • Step 7

    Cut out the foreground piece.

    Step 8

Use the overcast stitch (shown below) and foreground-piece-colored thread to stitch all three pieces together
around the edges. (You may glue down the loose ends to the back as you please.)

  • Step 9

Glue down the fist part of the foreground piece (and the inner rim, if desired).

  • Step 10

Cut out the “finger” pieces. I numbered them in order from left-to-right just in case they get jumbled up.

  • Step 11

Place the finger pieces in the cut-out part of the foreground piece, as the design shows.

  • Step 12

Once you have the finger pieces how you’d like them, glue them one-by-one onto the background piece.

  • Step 13

Hang your ornament on your tree. Or your wall. Or in your car. Or wherever. (Note: this can also be a badge
    —just leave out the ribbon.)
