  • Step 1

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat brown sugar, sugar, butter, and shortening until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add vanilla and egg; beat on medium until combined. Scrape down the sides.

  • Step 2

    In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. With the mixer on low, slowly add the flour mixture to the butter+sugar mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack.
