Add to the dress up box with this easy Bride's veil
This veil is quick to make and perfect for a little girl. You could easily make a larger version for a grown-up costume with more fabric too.

  • How to make a veil. Dress Ups: Bridal Veil - Step 1
    Step 1

My tulle was 135cm wide so I used half a meter of it. If your tulle is not as wide you may want to buy one and a half times the length from the top of the wearer's head to their waist.

Fold the tulle in half so that the shorter ends are together. I then shifted the top layer back 20cm or so to create a shorter layer and a longer layer.

    Pin along the fold.

Sew a casing at the folded edge. I sewed a casing about 1cm wide that was in about 2.5cm from the folded edge. That extra 2.5cm will form a ruffle.

Slide the headband into the casing, gathering up the fabric as you do.

    Spread the gathered fabric evenly.

My fabric stayed in place by catching on the teeth of the headband, but if you need to you can glue it in place.

    Extra Detail:

You could scallop the bottom edges of your veil with scissors. I just created a template with a cup.
