Step 1Cut up the beeswax and melt in a double boiler (you can create a makeshift double boiler by placing a heatproof dish into a large pan of water and placing onto a hot hob)

Step 2Add the coconut oil and the essential oil (I used ‘Chinese Musk’, but more common scents such as peppermint or lavender work well too). Stir the mixture with a metal spoon, until it’s all fully melted and well dispersed.

Step 3Carefully pour the mixture into a clean, dry container and leave to cool for at least 3 hours at room temperature.

Step 4To use the hair pomade, just rub a pea sized amount between your fingers to soften it, then apply to your hair as normal.
