Step 1
BRIM:
G Hook
Ch 6
SC blo in second chain from hook, sc flo in next chain, repeat to end of entire row, ch 1 turn
R2 – sc in blo of sc sp, sc in flo of next sc sp, repeat for entire row, ch 1 turn
Repeat R2 until piece measures 18 inches or until fits your head when wrapped around your head with ends touching.
Fold Brim in half, sc the short side and seam together, Ch 1 -
Step 2
BODY:
Hook I
Turn Brim right side out, ch 1
sc 64 sts evenly along Brim, join with first sc, PM
R1 – sc in each sc sp entire row, PM
R2 – 13 hdc in each hdc sp in continuous rounds, do not turn, PM after R13
R14 – hdc in the next 4 hdc sps, sctog, (repeat) entire row, PM
R15 – 17 hdc in each hdc sp in continuous rounds, PM after
R18 – 20 repeat row 17, PM
Measure hat by placing measuring tape from first Marker to end of row 20; should be 6 inches, Place 2nd Marker (PM)
R20 – sc alternating blo, flo around, repeat in the round until hat measures 8 inches from first Marker. -
Step 3
FINISHING
Cut yarn leaving a 12 inch tail
Turn hat inside out, lay flat with open end together; get darning needle and weave long yarn tail from beginning to end of opening. Pull yarn tight so that the top of the hat is gathered closed. Fasten off yarn. Weave in ends. -

Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring
Rnd 1 Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc), 7 hdc in ring. Joing with sl st to first hdc
Rnd 2 Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc) around – 16 hdc
Join with sl st in first hdc
Rd 3 and 4 Working in blo, ch 1, 1 sc around – 48 sc. Join with sl st to first sc
Rnd 5 Working in blo, ch 1, 3 sc in each sc around – 48 sc. Join with sl st to first sc
Rnd 6 Working in blo, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same sp, 3 dc in each sc around – 144 dc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch, turn
Rnd 7 *Ch 5, sc in next dc; rep from * around. Join with sl st in first ch of beg ch. Fasten off.
