• 

  Step 1

  Collect a toilet paper roll and, with the help of both a tape measure and pencil, make a mark every 2 cm along the length of the roll.
  In my case : 4 marks, so five spaces 2 cm wide each.

  Step 2

  To be more precise when cutting later, I suggest you add more marks along the perimeter of each 2 cm-wide section to join in a continuous line.

  Step 3

  Press the tube slightly between your fingers and cut along the lines you drew in the previous step.

• 

  Step 4

  You will obtain small circular rings, in my case five.
  Choose one to work with.

• 

  Step 5

  Collect the yarn you want to decorate with your ring.
  I`m using a metallic one in a shade of silver. I cut at least 50 pieces, each 28/30 cm long. Keep in mind that the number of threads could be less or more than mine, because this number depends on the thickness of the yarn you intend to use !

  Step 6

  You work using one thread at the time.
  Fold your thread in half.

• 

  Step 7

  Slide the head of the loop inside the ring,

• 

  Step 8

  Pass the tails through the loop,

• 

  Step 9

  And pull tight to grip the ring.

• 

  Step 10

  Repeat the same procedure with all the threads you need to cover the ring.

  Step 11

  Twist the threads.

• 

  Step 12

  Push them through the tube,

• 

  Step 13

  reaching the other side.

• 

  Step 14

  Once all the threads are on the other side, untwist them and pull them to have a neat brim bottom to your hat-to-be.
  Cut an extra length of yarn to knot around the previous threads to form the hanging loop.

  Step 15

  First, using a needle, thread a couple of mini bells if you like.

• 

  Step 16

  Then, wrap this thread around the previous group of threads and make a couple of tight knots.

• 

  Step 17

  The hat is almost done!
  Trim the excess yarn at the top of the loop.
  As you can see the hat seems "empty", so..

• 

  Step 18

  Fill it with some toy stuffing to obtain the right shape!

• 

  Step 19

  Adjust the threads to hide the toy stuffing and trim the top to resemble a pompom hat!
  Your tree ornament is done!!!
  You can use the other rings to make some more, maybe in different colours!
