Alice's apron
I have been re reading the lewis carrol books of alice's adventures in wonderland and through the looking glass because of how excited I am for tim burtons version.
I had a bit of fabric rolled up so it looked like a belt so I wrapped it around my waist and found that it fit. It gave me an Idea for an apron so I set to work.
To make sure that the belt wouldn't come undone I sewed the hearts, clubs, spades, and diamonds into it.
I am terrible at measurements and stuff so for the main part I just guessed how much I thought I would want and cut it out first on the white material and then as a backing to make it poof out a bit more, on tule.
for a little decoration on the front i used the red tule I had to make the diamonds and hearts and the black tule for clubs and spades.
I am so happy with it considering I have to hand sew everything please tell me what you think I hope you love it as much as I do.

  • How to make a half apron. Alice's Apron - Step 1
    Step 1

So roll a bit of material into a thin strip that is thick a few layers thick. Sew the ends together and you can either stitch across the whole way or do what I did and make it hold together by stitching a pattern onto it.

Because mine was alice in wonderland sort of thing I sewed the card symbols into it (spades, diamonds, hearts, clubs) but you can use any patten you want be creative and sketch down a pattern you think would look good.

    Step 2

measure or just guess how long you would want it and cut out a sort of semi circle or longer type of shape.
If you want to make it poof out a little bit also cut out some tule for the back. Gather the tule lightly so it only sticks out softly you don't want it to be sticking out in a big lump.
Sew the main part to the belt tightly. This took a long time for me because hand stitching what should be overlocked was hard. But for the unprofessional sewer like me Just go over it and over it so it looks like random stitches thats very dark and cool.

    Step 3

add the decorations for the front of the apron by cutting out the shapes you want in tule or coloured fabric. Of course I used the card symbols because it matches my theme but again do anything you want be creative.
Little tip: to keep the depth of the two layers the white and the tule behind it only attach the symbols to the white cloth so it doesn't hold onto the tule as-well.

  • Step 4

Enjoy your new apron. I would love to see other peoples versions or hear what you have to think.
I really hope you like it as much as I do. :)
