How would you describe your style?

My style is American Classic, think along the lines of Jackie Onassis, Katherine Hepburn, Kelly Klein or Jenna Lyons.

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

My black leather pants.

Who are your style icons?

I don't try to be a copy cat of someone else. They are already taken. However, there are women whom I admire for their great personal style like Kate Moss, Emmanuelle Alt, Taylor Swift, Victoria Beckham, just to mention a few.

Do you have any favourite designers?

I like Ivanka Trump, Ralph Lauren, Jason Wu, Vera Wang, Donna Kara, Diane von Fürstenberg, Stella McCarthy, Isaac Mizrahi. It's obvious that some of them are out of my price range. LOL.

Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes?

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. There are only some speciality boutiques (e.g. wedding attire) and Old Navy, Walmart and Fred Meyers. Thus, I shop nearly 99% of the times online. The online store I use depends whether I am looking for a trendy fashion item to update my wardrobe or whether I am looking for a wardrobe basic, i.e. a piece that will last for several years. The pieces I buy in town are mostly Alaska related clothing like ducks or flanel lined tights.

Do you make or customise your outfits?

I create all my looks. This means I don't buy head-to-toe outfits. Instead I buy according to the following rule. When see a new piece and I can't come up with three different outfits in the top of my head with the piece and what I already own, I won't buy the piece. This rule ensures a coordinated, well edited wardrobe where I can mix and match pieces.

Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?

To get the most wear out of your wardrobe think of a piece beyond its original purpose. Wear a dress as a skirt with a sweater on top or as a shirt with a skirt over it. Build your wardrobe around your flattering color palette. Alter pieces to be more you, e.g. shorten a hem to your fav length. Be a curator when it comes to your accessory collection.

Which other fashion blogs do you love to read?

Who What Wear and similar big ones. I like the Man Repeller. In the category of niche fashion blogs I like No Fear of Fashion, A Bag and a Beret, Accidental Icon, Fashion Fairy Dust, Jodi's Touch of Style, Ocean Blue Style at Manderley, just to mention a few. They are quite different in personal style, writing style, and subjects.
