Hi! I'm Shawna Miller, the creator behind Scrawny Girl. I have a fatal attraction to cuteness, that you can see reflected in my art and everyday life. I'm addicted to coffee, Hello Kitty, cupcakes, manga, and dying my hair. I spend my days trying to draw and paint around having dance parties in the kitchen with my daughter and watching My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

Yes. I used to spend hours drawing unicorns and other Lisa Frank-esque things as a child. I changed my major from Psychology to Studio Art in college and never looked back.

How would you describe the style of your work?

Quirky, whimsical, and kawaii!

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I have a Hello Kitty pencil case that doesn't hold all my pigma pens, but it does hold a pencil, eraser, Sharpie, and a lip gloss. I can't live without Sharpies (or lip gloss)!

Who is your favorite superhero?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Who doesn't love a stylish girl who is witty and kicks major ass?!

If you could have one super power what would it be?

The power to fly! I think I would get less motion sickness if I was the one flying.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I look for inspiration in everyday life. I am heavily influenced by anime/manga, music, and fashion.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

Hayao Miyazaki is my all time favorite, followed by Naoko Takeuchi (Sailor Moon), Sherri Dupree Bemis, and Kelly Rae Roberts.
