Ideal for wedding and prom season!
I was inspired by this hobbycraft project (see URL below) however I have changed the colour and it is no longer floral, it's butterfly themed. I'm crediting it as inspiration however some of the methods I used wre slightly different and more importantly the design etc' is my own.

  • How to make a feather hair clip. Fancy Hair Clip (Almost A Fascinator) - Step 1
    Step 1

    First, here are your materials.

The butterfly may be bought from most card or crafting shops quite cheaply. The wire with the beads on is quite cheap but if you can't find it, just thread beads onto thin wire, twisting each to keep it in place.

    Step 2

Use the glue gun (or superglue) to cover the plain clip in ribbon, as shown. You basically want it looking neat at each end.

    Step 3

Try to get it very neat like this. The neater this bit, the more professional the final item will look.

    Step 4

Take your beaded wire and use it to 'bunch' and decorate your feathers. I have used several small feathers rather than one big one (as the inspiration website had) so have 'bound' them with the wire.

    Step 5

Glue it neatly to the clip. Remember to orientate it so that the feathers point the way you want it (so if you wear the clip with the hinge at the bottom and want the feathers going up, as I did, stick them on the 'opening' end).

    Step 6

Glue the butterfly on. If you intend to wear the clip on one side of your head, and want the butterfly facing the front, you can slightly angle it. That's what I've done here (my OH was like 'haven't you stuck that on wonky luv?' ahem, it was deliberate!).

Then just leave it to dry.

Finished. The inspiration project said to add sequins/diamantes but I think that would be too much and look a bit like a kid's dress-up item not a fascinator.
