Flu

This is the 4th time I have had flu now and it's really starting to annoy me.
I have had the flu since new years day and it has only got worse from aches and pains and coughing to stomach ache and being sick. Me and my Mum both agree that going to the doctors won't get us anywhere because they wil just tell us to go home and keep taking paracetmol which isn't doing much.

Any advice on what to do?

not really much help here but loads of people are getting this Happy and it's lasting longer than usual (one friend has had it since xmas!), so i'd say if it carries on much longer then maybe go and see a Dr and see if they can help anyway.
Hope you feel better soon x

You should try aromatherapy, that always works best for me. The oils that help cure flu are eucalyptus, lime, rosemary and peppermint to clear head congestion; pine and tea-tree are anti-viral and laurel and orange help boost the immune system. You can burn scented candles with these oils in, or buy the oils from a pharmacy and put a few drops on your pillow if you're staying in bed most of the time. I hope you feel better soon

Another thing that can help is going to a homeopathic doctor to get some remedies. Homeopathic medicine works much better than the stuff traditional doctors give, and they have absolutely no nasty side effects

Lemon and ginger tea with a bit of honey is really good, most places have it in the tea aisle. I get sick all the time too and have been looking for ways to get better faster! But yeah - ginger helps your stomach, lemon for the vitamin c and honey for your throat. Lots of water will help your cough too.
Get well soon!

I would suggest making the flu shot part of your yearly fall routine. It doesn't protect against all strains of flu but it does really does help. I'm highly susceptible for flu so when I worked for the school district I made sure to get my flu shot every year and it really cut down on how often I got it. Last year I didn't get my shot and I think I had the flu at least once a month.

thats horrible! MY brothers girlfriend got the horrible-advanced flu a month ago, and couldnt even come out of the bathroom for 2-3 days.

Youre right, doctors cant do much to help you. Its a waste. Drink plenty of fluids, even if u just throw them back up, you have to keep hydrated. And keep warm. (& try things the others said)
And next flu season, make sure to get a flu-shot! since your highly accessable to it. If you keep getting it, maybe you should see your doctor to see if you have a bad immune-system or something.
Hope you feel better.

I had the stomach flu I while back. It was awful! I think I have a cold now.

I have one of the worst immune systems, I swear! But my Nanna always said that you should eat plenty of veggies with color and drink 100% juice because of the vitamin c, which helps boost your immune system. I'd do it, but I'm addicted to soda. If it doesn't fizz, I can't drink it Happy

I can sort of sympathise with you, I've had the flu from 28th dec and for 3 or 4 days I had some of the really nasty side affects, shivering, sweating, light headedness, sickness, aching, coughing and sore throat. I just took pain killers for the aching and cough medicine for the cough and drunk plenty of liquids. I don't think there's much else you can do tbh... having it more than once must be a nightmare!! I know it was awful just having it the once Tongue

Thank you all for your kind words and help.

On the evening that I posted this I got worse and started getting really bad abdominal pains and my Mum took me to hospital.

The doctors was positive that it was appendicitis and they operated and found my appendix was fine so they did lots more tests and they now think it might be swine flu.

Got out of hospital last night and a feel a lot better after being in there.
