Linolium is dangerous.

Today I was working on my Tim Burton stamp and everything was going perfectly fine. This isn't the first time that I've done linolium so I've been pretty confident that nothing serious was going to happen. That and I only had a few more things to carve out anyway and then I'd be done!

Well my plan didn't turn out that way. I totally didn't heat up my linolium as much as I should have and so the blade slipped and ripped my lower thumb completely open. What freaked me out most was that as soon as I lifted up my hand, I saw white and I thought "omg. that's my fucking bone" so I'm freaking out and my art teacher says "Oh, well go get a bandaid" ARE YOU SERIOUS?! My palm is gushing blood and she refers my state to a bandaid? I couldn't even look at my hand my friend Kayla had to put a covering over it.

My mom rushed me to the emergency room and they put 4 stitches in it. My thumb feels like it's asleep (like your foot usually feels when it's been in a position for awhile) and that's apparently not normal after an hour or so. That and I can't bend my thumb into a certain position so I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon.

Ughhh I can't believe it.

So! You guys, linolium is really difficult. Make sure it's heated properly so the blade doesn't slip and you don't cut yourself like I did.

It reallyyyy effing hurts Happy

I'm really sorry to hear about your injury, I hope that it heals quickly & that there's no lasting damage!!

I remember doing something quite similar a few years back whilst trying to do that, it put me right off it...
*hugs*

Oh yeeeeecckk, I hope you're ok!

I was doing linolium a while ago.. I didn't heat it up at all because apparently I have a death wish! Next time, I'll know- thankyou!

Ouch ouch ouch! Happy That's why I avoid doing any dangerous crafting, because I'm so accident prone lol.
I cut the top of my right index finger open with a penknife once (while trying to cut the top off an ice pop, stupid thing) and I couldn't belive how much it bled from about a 1cm cut. And I went through about 7 plasters just fron that, so if your teacher had put a plaster on your thumb I can't even imagine how many you would've gone through!
I hope everything heals okay!
