I'm a sewing author, teacher and founder of the pattern company Tilly and the Buttons. We create easy-to-use dressmaking guides for the new wave of crafters. I live in London and work from a lovely studio with an awesome team.
Join us for a #CraftRoomTour of Elizabeth Moad's craft room.
I like the fact that the space is small so most things I need are in arms reach or just a step away! I can sit at my desk and if I need an embellishment I just swivel the chair around and look in the drawers behind me. This sounds pretty lazy but actually it means there is no interruption when designing a project and the flow is continued without getting up from the desk.
Come behind the scenes at Little Black Dog in SA for a #KnittingNookTour and see Joey's knitting & crafty room in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I love having this room to relax in and get creative. It has a lovely big window that looks out over the garden, where the wild birds come to feed every day. The room gets lovely morning sun, and is the perfect reason to make tea and go and sit in there with a crafty magazine while I start my day. There is enough space in there for Miekie (the little black dog) to join me any time.
Come behind the scenes at FehrTrade for a #CraftRoomTour and see Melissa's sewing cave in London.
First and foremost, I love that it's a space that's entirely mine - I can leave projects out midway through and I know they won't get moved or spilled on, and everything is right where I left it. I'm a very organised person and I like to know where everything is, so that when I'm mid-flow, I can just grab the supplies I need without having to hunt or dig through piles!
