Come behind the scenes at Shirley and Eadie for #KnittingNookTour and see Ashlyn's creative space in Baton Rouge.

The natural light and openness of it. It’s located right off of our living room with glass French doors opening into the living room. Half of the room is my husband’s work space, so if I decide to stitch from the couch and binge Netflix we can still be close to one another if he’s working and vice versa.

How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

Through a sewing club I took part in my first year of high school. Someone found a tutorial on how to make hairbows on this site and I thought it looked interesting, so I checked it out more when I got home and ended up signing up.

What projects are you currently working on?

For my shop, I'm planning on making more cameo brooches and some more cameo hair bows. I just finished making the polymer pieces recently. For personal projects, I have a patchwork blanket I'm working on myself using my looms. I've only been working on it when I have nothing else to work on and feel like bingeing Netflix. I'm also about to start making a mini shawl for my friend's cat, because she keeps sitting on the one I made my friend and we thought it would be cute if her cat had one that matched her's.

Host a Paddington Bear afternoon tea for your cubs in #DIYTheParty with Cat.

I've started a new tradition of treating my family to Afternoon Tea on Christmas Eve and this year the theme was Paddington Bear. We designed the table to look like a train and each "passenger" got a set of bear ears, and a passport with the menu and a ticket from Darkest Peru to Paddington Station. We tucked into mini bear burgers, bear paw crackers, soup in marmalade jars and marmalade sandwich cookies from mini suitcases. After our tea, we went to see Paddington 2 at the cinema and it was the perfect day!

Definitely the long window sills that let a ton of natural light pour in throughout the day. My ceiling is pretty high since it is an apartment on the top floor. My second favourite thing about my space is the furniture. My desk has drawers where I can perfectly fit Etsy products such as bookmarks, stickers and postcards. In my experience it is very rare to find a wooden desk with drawers and compartments for art supplies. Another fantastic feature to my desk is it is on two levels where I can put my iMac higher than the space that I am working with my hands which helps a TON with posture so that I am not craning my neck downwards all of the time.

Make a splash and host a mermaid party in #DIYTheParty with PienderZ.

The winter is almost done! Thank God cause I am done with the winter! So let's celebrate the upcoming summer with a Mermade party! I love the colours of the sea, de shells and the vacationvibe. But I also love fantasy, so I decided to combine these two things. That's how I came up with this Mermaid Party. Give your party colours of blue and green and here and there a splash of red. For more inspiration to lift your party to the next level, check the tutorials I've picked out for jou. Have a great summer!!
