We go behind the scenes at ShanniLoves to tour Shannon's amazing sewing room in Indiana.

My sewing machine sits right in front of a big window. It provides great lighting and an even better view. At anytime I can look up from sewing and see birds flying by or deer running in the field across the street. I don't feel so bad about sitting in front of the sewing machine all day with such a beautiful view in front of me.

Tell us about your space

My sewing space is located in a spare bedroom upstairs. I find it to be the perfect size for me. Everything I need is at close reach. The room also doubles as my closet so it's where I get dressed every morning. Sometimes if I dress fast enough I have extra time to cut out a pattern before leaving for work. ;) I mainly sew clothing but I also dabble a little in jewelry making and home decor crafts. The room is all mine however I do share it with a few furry friends. My pug Vito can usually be found laying at my feet and at least one of my 3 cats can be found curled up on my sewing table. I think they like the purr of my machine.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I like filling it with things that make me happy..vintage notions, bright colors and fun pictures.. oh and fabric, lots of fabric.

How do you keep organized?

After I'm done for the day I put everything back in it's place. Walking into a mess is so uninspiring for me and a huge buzz kill. I'm slightly addicted to thrifting so I acquire a lot of supplies like fabric, notions and patterns. Because of this I like to do a purge about every 6 months to get rid of the old and make way for the new. I love organizing my stash and sometimes I find I spend more time doing that than actually using it.

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

I like finding unique and functional ways to stay organized. Old print trays do double duty as wall decor and thread storage. I recently found an old metal card filing drawer at a flea market that holds my bias tape and other trims perfectly. Vintage sewing boxes are fun decor and hold all of my sewing notions.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

Much to my seam rippers dismay my favorite possession is my sewing machine Fannie. My favorite creation is my "Owl You Need" sewing buddy. I created him to sit next to my machine and hold all of my tools that are easily misplaced like my seam ripper, pins and scissors.

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I painted the door on the front of my sewing table with chalkboard paint so I could keep a list of all the patterns I want to sew that month. I also use Pinterest to organize inspiration I find online.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Sewing blogs! I also like sites such as Kollabora, Burdastyle and Pattern Review. I find these sites very inspiring when I'm in a sewing slump that I need to get out of.

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

1. To have mice like Cinderella that would do all of my hand sewing and cut out all my patterns for me.
2. A fully stocked fridge because crafting makes me hungry.
3. A clock that never ran out of time.
