Still can't get that piece of thread through the needle? Well, try licking the eye of the needle as the moisture will help to draw the thread through it.

yeah, licking the thread helps but if all else fails i use this method.

I find licking the thread helps more and I make it go really flat too, sometimes I cut thread off at an angle so it goes through the eye more, or I just get a needle with a fat eye.
